The records span the time period from 1640 to the 1800s. The records cover various surnames and family lines. Most records are copies of, or transcriptions of, wills, deeds, marriage bonds, and other materials.

Scope and Contents This collection primarily contains correspondences, which are sorted into two files. The first file contains correspondences to and from Edward Coles, documenting his experiences in the U.S. Navy near the end of World War I in 1918. Many of these letters come from and were sent to family members located in California.
