Lois Allen Collection
Scope and Contents
This collection contains historical and research materials collected by Lois Allen regarding her family history. This includes genealogical research and research correspondences related to the Turner, Allen, Boone, Shouse, Drake, Stovall, Miller, Farvis, and Braden families. The collection also contains photographic materials documenting various family members, some of whom are identified and many who are not. Many of those identified in these photographs relate to the Turner Family. There are also some more location-based photographs including some of locations in Independence, Missouri. There are also a number of materials related specifically to Phillip Turner – a musician and owner of the Turner Music Store in Independence – and his family. Other items in this collection also include a memoir written in 1945 by an unknown author, a scrapbook, letters, financial documents, a funeral book, and an autograph book.

Biographical / Historical
Lois Turner was born in Lafayette County, Missouri on March 19, 1913 to Roy Turner and Nell Strodtman. She grew up in Independence, Missouri, where she married Frank S. Allen. Lois was a family historian and involved in many genealogical and historical societies. Lois Allen passed away in 2010.
