Scope and Contents

This collection consists of genealogy and photographs for Lloyd Clayton Hixson and other family members. The majority of the collection are photographs taken and collected by Lloyd Hixson. These photographs document various family members as well as his military service in the United States Navy. Also included is a photograph of his parents, Floyd T. Hixson and Julia L Littlejohn, on their wedding day. There is also a genealogy pedigree chart completed by Lloyd’s daughter, Gail.

Biographical / Historical

Lloyd Clayton Hixson was born on January 16, 1923 in Kansas to Floyd T. Hixson and Julia Littlejohn Hixson. He was one of three children for the couple including Velma Jean and Vanetta. Lloyd enlisted with the United States Navy on April 27, 1943 and served until December 10, 1945. His ship was part of the Pacific Operations during World War II. On June 3, 1950, Lloyd married Olive Jean Simmons in Jackson County, Missouri. The couple lived in Kansas City where Lloyd worked as a salesman at a car dealership. The couple had three children. Lloyd died in August 1985.
