James W. Stobaugh Scrapbooks
Scope and Contents
This collection contains eight scrapbooks assembled by James W. Stobaugh, Sr. Most of the scrapbooks contain newspaper clippings and magazine ads related to World War II. There is also a scrapbook about the actor Will Rogers, and a scrapbook about James W. Stobaugh, Sr. himself (marked “J.W.S.”). This last scrapbook is full of newspaper clippings, telegrams, written notes, railroad passes, and other materials from James W. Stobaugh’s life.

Biographical / Historical
James W. Stobaugh, Sr. was born in Fort Madison, Iowa in 1896. Stobaugh lived in Independence, Missouri for 70 years and worked as a branch supervisor for the Western Union Telegraph Company. Stobaugh was a veteran of World War I. He passed away on September, 12, 1975 in Kansas City.
