Biographical / Historical

Cler-Mont Elementary school is a part of the Fort Osage School District located in Independence, Missouri. Cler-Mont was built in 1966 and named for a Chief of the Osage Indians. The school officially opened in October 1966; after being housed in a church and a rental facility. Originally the school consisted of 14 classrooms; however in 1967 bonds were passed that allowed for the addition of more classrooms, a kitchen, and a library. The Cler-Mont Elementary Parents as Teacher Association was formed on October 13, 1966.
